Living life...that's where I've been! Working, cleaning, sleeping, reading, paying bills, raising and worring about my kids...
What have YOU been doin'? Probably more of the same....
RIGHT NOW WE'RE GETTIN THE THIRD CHILD, CHARLIE, READY TO GO TO COLLEGE...He's not that far away...far enogh from home to stay in the dorm. I must confess, I feel a little jealous....never went to college. I feel like I've missed something important...I am so glad he isn't. I really wish I had the money to send ALL my children to college and my husband. He had to quit college when his Dad got sick...before I met him.
Gotta get ready for Monday....back to work day. I think we should start our workweek with Tuesday. But before long...we would be dreading Tuesday as much as we do Monday!!! and so and so on......
I could reallyyyy use a beach vacation right about now!!!!! Please!!!!!!

Raisin Scones
This past Mother's Day the women in our family got together and had a meal at a nearby Tea Room. Most of us have had never been anywhere like that....it was great!!
One of our favorite things was raisin scones. I scoured a few recipe sites and found this recipe....actually, I tweaked it a little. It's delicious with your favorite pot of tea.
2 cups all purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
2/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup butter
1/2 cup raisins
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
2 eggs
1/2 cup sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla
Beat together the first 4 ingredients until mixture resembles coarse meal.
Beat in raisins and nuts.
In separate bowl, beat together eggs, sour cream and vanilla until blended.
Add this mixture, all at once, to flour mixture.
Beat until blended.
Do not overbeat.
Spread batter(it will be thick) into a greased 10" springform pan.
Sprinkle the top with 1-2 tsp. sugar. (optional, but really nice!!)
Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 25-30 minutes or until the top is browned
and/or a tester comes out clean.
Cool in the pan.
Remove and cut into pie-shaped wedges.
ENJOY!!!

Ice Cream Ideas
1. Ice cream picks up freezer odors easily so slip the
container into a large freezer bag and seal.
2. Ice milk or sherbet has less butterfat but more sugar
than regular ice cream.
3. Drop a jelly bean into the end of a cone before filling
to help stop drips.
4. Hollow out a cupcake to make an edible ice cream bowl.
5. Use a flour tortilla to make a ice cream burrito.
6. Make an ice cream sandwich with a scoop of ice cream between
two large cookies or slice a brownie in half and fill with
ice cream.

What's for Supper?
Tough question! I was going to fix left over roast beef and fry a few taters, but when I got home, Charlie told me he gave the DOG the roast beef because he thought it ahd been in the fridge too long!!!! S o much for that idea! Maybe we'll just have..........uh.........sweet tea and taters!!!???
Charlie has had too much time on his hands this week. He is on 3 day suspension from school because we forgot Saturday school, which he had because of too many d-halls which he had because he has a silly teacher! Charlie is not in trouble but the teacher will get an earfull if it happens again!

Living on Hazel Street
That's me on the back steps of our house. I look like a really bratty kid, huh? I don't think I was, I think I might have been a little shy. My best friend lived next door. Her name was MaryAnn. We loved to play "Barbies" together. But I was a little jealous because she had more Barbie "stuff" than me. She also had an upstairs in her house that I loved. We loved to climb tree, play paperdolls, and walk the railroad tracks behind our houses. (makes me shudder just thinking about my kids doing that !) I'm glad there are no tracks nearby!
Years later when I was about 13, I heard that MaryAnn had shot herself. Commited suicide because of some guy. What a loss! I wish I could know her now!
